Myths Surrounding Dense Breast

Breast cancer is increasing day by day in women. There is a lot of misinterpretation about screening mammography. It is a myth that when your age increases the chances of having cancer decreases.

A women who is over 50 years of age has more chance to suffer from breast cancer. All breast cancers can be detected ona mammogram is a myth. There are often cases where a mammogram fails to detect breast cancer because a woman has dense breast tissue. There is no screening test which gives exact and accurate results.

A mammogram is not safe and effective is a myth and the fact is that mammograms are the first screening tool to detect cancer at an early stage. Like if a woman in the future is going to suffer from breast cancer than a mammogram can detect it before 2-3 years early before the health care provider feels them. Often women fear that routine mammogram checkup can cause cancer due to the radiations it produces. But, the fact is that the risk associated with this radiation exposure is very low. If you have breast cancer or you observe a sign of breast cancer you cannot get screened before the age of 40 years is a myth. But, it is rare to find cancer in women who are below 40 years and also mammograms are not so advanced to detect breast cancer in younger women.
