Dense Breast Treatment And Law

In a woman, there are always stays high chances of having a dense breast. According to a survey, 27 million of the women in the USA suffers from the dense breast. It can be seen in mammogram which refers to a high amount of dense tissue in comparison to the fatty tissue. There are several surgeries and treatments are being done for the dense breast. Such as:-

Mammography: Mammography is a procedure in which the doctor uses a machine named ‘Mammogram’ which sends x-rays pictures of the breast, which ultimately helps the doctor to find the early dense breast tissues.

3D-Mammography: 3-D Mammography works the same way as the Mammography does, but it gives a 3-D image of the breast which helps the doctor have a detailed view of the dense breast.

Breast Ultrasound: If the breast density is high? Or the doctor would have found any lump and abnormalities in the breast? Then ultrasound is being considered as a first choice. This process has been done with the help of sound waves.

What is dense breast law?

On 28th March, the FDA has announced important new steps to modernize breast cancer screening and help empower patients with information when they are considering important decisions regarding their breast health care. The amendment includes the requirement of breast density reporting to both patients and referring health providers. DB-I has analyzed the proposed language and submitted comments to the FDA during the designated “open for public comment” period.

So, these are dense breast treatment and law.

Should I Worry About Dense Breast?

Dense breast is the most common phenomenon a woman faces which can be treated if spotted on time.

Here are the things which you need to know: -

Breasts are made up of glandular, connective, and fat tissue. Dense breasts simply have more glandular and connective tissue and less fat tissue.

Experts don’t fully understand why, but women with dense breast tissue are slightly more likely to develop breast cancer. Still, it’s only one factor among many that may increase your lifetime risk of the disease. It can also be harder to spot cancer when looking at dense breast tissue on a mammogram image. Fatty tissue shows up as black, while dense tissue shows up as white. Masses or tumors can appear white as well, so they’re not always easy to see in dense breasts.

Dense breasts don’t have a certain size or shape. And breasts that feel firm aren’t necessarily dense. The only way to determine breast density is with a mammogram. In Pennsylvania, state law requires that your health care provider inform you about your breast density level in your mammogram report because of the slight increase in breast cancer risk for women with dense breast tissue.
