Why Tomosynthesis ?

If you have dense breast tissues you might be familiar with the mammogram, but if you want more accurate results then you must choose the much advance version, that is  tomosynthesis. It is an advanced technology for screening the Breast tissues.
It can detect early signs of breast problems with no symptoms. Now you might be wondering that how tomosynthesis is different from a mammogram. These can be differentiated in the following terms:-

Dimensions
In a mammogram, the X-ray of the breast is taken from 2 angles: from top and bottom and from sides which form a 2-d image. In tomosynthesis images are taken from  several angles which forms a computer-based 3-d image.

Patient experience
During both the screenings, the technologist will position the breast between the plates of the machine. They will compress the breast to take the pictures. It can be sometimes uncomfortable but in tomosynthesis, the compression is very light.

Results
In a mammogram, the 2-d image is produced in which the breast tissues can look overlapped and look like lumps This can lead to a false-positive result. Mammogram produces images from 2 angles and tomosynthesis produces an image from multiple angles, therefore, it provides more accurate results.

Tomosynthesis overcomes all the drawbacks of mammogram and is more accurate. So, If you face any problem associated with dense breast tissue then opt for tomosynthesis over a mammogram.
