Preparing For Breast MRI

Breast MRI is a technique of screening the breast with the combination of large magnets, radio waves and a computer to generate the detailed images.

]If you have decided to go through breast MRI, here are some guidelines for getting prepared:-



Clothing
You must completely change into a patient gown and remove all other articles. All piercings and jewellery and valuables are advised to leave at home. You should not  carry any metal object while going for an MRI scan.

What to Expect
A large tube-like structure, open from both ends is used for imaging. You shouldn’t move your body during imaging for quality results. Earplugs will be provided due  to the loud noise of MRI machine.

Intake
You can eat, drink and take medicine as usual.

Allergy
Consult your physician for examining any kind of allergy in contrast to the MRI. You need to take the prescribed recommendations most likely by mouth in 24, 12 or 2 hours prior to examination.

Anti-anxiety
If you have claustrophobia, you need to refer to your physician for some anti-anxiety medicinal prescription. You’ll need someone else to drive you home.

Strong magnetic environment
Priorly you should inform your physician if you have any metal inside your body, your examination can be delayed, cancelled or rescheduled upon your arrival until  further information obtained.
