Women
who have dense breast tissue have a higher risk of breast cancer compared to
women with less dense breast tissue.
It's unclear at this time why dense breast
tissue is linked to breast cancer risk. Dense breast tissue also makes it
harder for radiologists to see cancer. The dense breast tissue appears white on
a mammogram, as do some abnormal breast changes. This can make a mammogram
harder to read and may make it more difficult to find breast cancer in women
with dense breasts. Women with dense breasts may be called back for follow-up
tests more often than women with fatty breasts.
Doctors
do several tests to find out the breast abnormalities. Such as Mammogram, breast MRI, Breast Ultrasound. Though dense breasts can’t be cured but with
the help of these treatments, abnormalities under the breast can be
fixed.
