How Well We Know About Breast Density?

You must be familiar with the term “Breast Density” but not all of you would be familiar with the meaning of this term.
Do not worry! We are here for your help. Breast Density or Dense Breast Tissue is defined as a measure of difference between amounts of two types of tissues in a woman’s breasts. These tissues are:

Fibrous and Glandular Tissues
Fatty tissues

Density of breast is actually in direct relation to the amount of Fibrous and Glandular Tissues – Greater the amount of these tissues, higher will be the density of breast. Similarly greater the amount of fatty tissues, the lower is the breast density and vice versa. Hence we can conclude that amount of these tissues is considered to be the main determinant of density of breast.

What makes breast density a thing to worry about is its yet-to-be found relationship with breast cancer. Although they do not know that for sure and cannot say anything with certainty, they make this prediction that women who have dense breast tissues are more likely to get breast cancer. However, researches have proved that breast cancer patients with breast density are, however; at equal risk of death as to patients with fatty breasts.
